Asuransi Jasindo work harder on retail products

PT. Asuransi Jasa Indonesia in 2007 will work harder on retail products to be able to reach Rp. 1 trillion by 2008.

Head of Specialized Marketing Division of PT. Asuransi Jasa Indonesia Zulchaibar said that the retail sector presently makes up 25 % of total income. He expects a bigger contribution of 30%-35% from this sector next year.

"We are coming up with product modifications in 2007 and will strive to reach 1 trillion by 2008," he explained in Jakarta yesterday. He disclosed that in 2006 the retail product may reach only 90 % of the pre-set target which was Rp. 530 billion.

"It is likely that we can go up to only 90 % of the pre-set target as it is very closely related to the people’s purchasing power," he added.

Zulchaibar is optimistic that economic improvements will bring a favorable impact on next year’s growth in the retail products. He furthermore mentioned that the growth of banking sector this year has also risen 10 %, made up from 40 % retail and 60 % corporate sectors. Jasindo has brought out several retail products such as motor vehicles, personal accident, and fire.

Jasindo has also introduced an insurance product which covers protection for the insured during their travel to their hometown, for a period of 10 days before Idul Fitri until 10 days after Idul Fitri. Jasindo Mudik as it is called, this product provides a guarantee against any risk deriving from accidents, such as death, partial permanent disablement or total permanent disablement, including the necessary costs of hospitalization or medication, in line with the policy of the coverage. The premium is paid in the form of a Rp. 5000 coupon.

From Idul Fitri last year, Asuransi Jasindo obtained Rp. 76.3 million from 15,252 insureds. This is far below the targeted 600.000 people or Rp. 3 billion. From last year’s gain, there were 12 claims including the death of one person, the coverage of which was Rp. 25,000,000
