Asuransi Jasindo ready to pay Garuda Indonesia Aircraft

PT. Asuransi Jasa Indonesia (Persero) expresses readiness to pay insurance
claims on Boeing 737-400 owned by Garuda Indonesia which was burnt down in
Yogyakarta, Wednesday, 7th March. Jasindo’s head of HR Bureau, Dewi Poedjiastuti
confirms that the Company has strong funding and has the full support of
internationally acclaimed reinsurers, enabling Jasindo to pay the claims without
any difficulty.
"We have had a cooperation with insurance companies with "BBB" to "AAA" ratings,
although the premiums offered are slightly higher than those quoted by other
insurance firms," she disclosed to Jurnal Nasional on Monday, 12th March.
She added that insurance on the Garuda aircraft has been covered by Jasindo
Consortium, i.e. Jasindo working together with some insurance companies and
Asuransi Jasindo has adequate liquidity to take care of its portion.
Dewi, however, declined to specify the amount of the coverage, neither was she
willing to disclose the number of members of the consortium and each member’s
coverage capacity.
In spite of frequent corporate claims, Dewi is confident that Jasindo is not
likely to face financial difficulties this year as is has spread most of the
risks with financially strong overseas reinsurers.
