IDR 600 Million Compensation Payment for Garuda Victims

Garuda Indonesia paid insurance compensation payment over to the dead victims of
the aircraft accident that occurred on 7 March at the Adisutjipto Airport
Yogyakarta. The compensation payment has so far been given to the families of
three victims, namely the late Jihad Akbar, Eddy Suharyo, and Totok Priyanto.
Emirsyah Satar, President Director of Garuda at the press conference in Jakarta
said on Thursday, 15 March, that each of the deceased received IDR 600 million,
while the heirs of the other 18 dead passengers will receive their compensation
payment when they have completed administration procedures. Meanwhile, Garuda is
discussing with insurance company as to compensations for the injured
passengers, including baggage compensation for all passengers. Up to Wednesday
14 March Garuda had paid IDR 25 million over to each of the 122 GA-200
passengers, 73 of whom are domiciled in Jakarta, 38 in Yogyakarta, while the
rest come from several other areas including one from Hiroshima, Japan and one
from Singapore. The heir of the late Prof Dr. Koesnadi, one of the victims, has
received IDR 1 billion in addition to IDR 600 million compensation, due to the
fact that Mr. Koesnadi was a member of New Executive Card Plus and had flown
aboard Garuda 802 times.
